To use WhatsApp Broadcasts and all Converse automation features, you must activate a WhatsApp Business API (WABA) account. 





Prerequisites

Before applying for WhatsApp Business API, ensure you have:

1. A Business Website

Meta requires your business to have an active website to approve your WhatsApp API account.

2. A Fresh Phone Number

You need a phone number that is not currently registered on WhatsApp.

  • If using an existing number, permanently delete its WhatsApp account before proceeding.

Once you have these ready, proceed with the steps below.


Converse Onboarding Steps

Step 1: Converse Team Creates Your Account

Our team collects the following details from you internally and sets up your Converse workspace:

  • Email ID

  • Company Name

  • Website

  • Company Size

  • Industry



Step 2: Receive the WhatsApp Business API Application Link

Once your Converse account is ready, we will share a secure link for you to apply for the WhatsApp Business API through Meta.



Steps to Apply for WhatsApp Business API

Step 3: Click “Continue with Facebook”

Use the shared link and select Continue with Facebook to begin the WhatsApp API application.
✔ Ensure you have admin access to your Facebook Business Manager.

Tip: If your Business Manager is not verified, Meta may ask you to complete verification during or after the process.




Step 4: Click “Continue” to Proceed

You will be redirected to a Meta window where the application begins.

Click Continue.


Step 5: Tap “Get Started”

Review the permissions and select Get Started to link your Facebook account.




Step 6: Create Your WhatsApp Business Profile

You will need to enter the following:

a. WhatsApp Business Account Name (Internal only)

This is only for Meta’s backend — not visible to customers.

b. Display Name (Customer-facing)

Enter the brand name customers should see on WhatsApp.
Follow Meta’s display name guidelines.

c. Select Business Category

Choose the industry that best represents your business.




Step 7: Add Your Phone Number

Select Add a new or existing number, then enter the number you want to use for WhatsApp API.

Make sure it can receive SMS or Voice OTP.

Click Send Code to verify.





Step 8: Application Review

Once submitted:

  • Most approvals happen within 10 minutes

  • Display Name approval may take up to 3–4 hours

  • Creating automation flows

  • Using the inbox for support

  • Enabling COD verification, order updates, and more
